Jose Peraza Swipes First Bag Of The Season
7 years agoCincinnati Reds shortstop Jose Peraza managed to steal his first base of the season on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Peraza finished the game 1-for-5 with one strikeout. It has been a slow start for the young shortstop, who is slashing just .200/.200/.200 with two runs and one stolen base in eight games. Peraza has plenty of speed but he's going to have a tough time putting it to use on the basepaths if he doesn't start getting on base more frequently. He could help his case if he drew the occasional walk but he hasn't shown much in the way of plate discipline over his career, posting just a 3.5% walk rate. Peraza was a popular sleeper at one point before the 2017 season but he's going to need to show more at the plate to be useful in fantasy.
