Josh Allen Shows Glimpses Of Promise In First Start
6 years agoBuffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen had an up-and-down game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The rookie, making his first start of his career, made some mistakes -- like holding onto the ball too long -- though he also made several quality throws. More importantly, he looked comfortable and poised despite being under heavy pressure all game long. Allen and the Bills put up 20 points, 17 more than last week, against the Chargers as the No. 7 overall pick completed 18 of 33 passes for 245 yards to go along with one touchdown and two interceptions. His longest completion went to wide receiver Zay Jones late in the second quarter for 57 yards -- the throw was in the air for 64.0 yards from the spot of the throw to the spot of the catch, according NFL Next Gen Stats. He added 32 rushing yards, although he was sacked five times. Allen is going to be the Bills starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, however, it would behoove fantasy players to avoid using him in their starting lineups this season unless there are no other options.
