5 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell was named National League Player of The Week for his performance from May 13-19. In seven games, he went 11-for-27 (.407 average), with an on-base percentage of .484 and a slugging percentage of .889. He slugged four home runs and drove in 10 during a week that the Pirates went 4-3. Bell continues his tear, and is one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball over the past month. On the season, the 26-year-old now has a .333 average, is slugging .697 to go along with 14 home runs, 44 RBI, and 31 runs scored.
