6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell was named National League Player of The Week for his performance from May 13-19. In seven games, he went 11-for-27 (.407 average), with an on-base percentage of .484 and a slugging percentage of .889. He slugged four home runs and drove in 10 during a week that the Pirates went 4-3. Bell continues his tear, and is one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball over the past month. On the season, the 26-year-old now has a .333 average, is slugging .697 to go along with 14 home runs, 44 RBI, and 31 runs scored. He will continue to be the main offensive catalyst for the Pirates, who sit three games back of the Cubs in the NL Central.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
