7 years agoToronto Blue Jay third baseman Josh Donaldson served as the team’s designated hitter on Friday; he’s expected to remain in that role for at least a few more days in an attempt to recover from the “dead arm” he’s currently suffering from. In comical fashion, Donaldson short-armed several throws from third base on Opening Day, leading to the dead arm diagnosis. Of course, for all we know, it might also be affecting his performance at the plate as he’s off to an 0-for-7 start with one walk and surprisingly, a stolen base. He’ll try to rebound at the dish on Saturday against New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia, while Yangervis Solarte is the likely candidate to remain at the hot corner.--John Smith
