6 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Josh Harrison (hamstring) is currently on the 10-day injured list but is awaiting a second opinion before deciding what to do next. Harrison suffered a left hamstring strain after sliding into third base in Monday's game against the Orioles. A subsequent MRI on Tuesday revealed a Grade 2 strain and a partial tear. While surgery is an option, Harrison apparently does not want to go that route at this point. Generally, non-surgical recovery time is four to six weeks. With both Harrison and shortstop Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) out, the Tigers will continue to use some combination of Niko Goodrum, Ronny Rodriguez and Gordon Beckham in the middle of the infield for the foreseeable future.--Daniel Benjamin
