Joshua Kelley Struggles In Week 5
4 years agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie running back Joshua Kelley struggled on Monday versus the New Orleans Saints. Many expected the rookie to the start with Austin Ekeler (hamstring) sidelined, but the Chargers elected to go with Justin Jackson. The workload in the backfield was pretty even and Kelley had 11 rushes compared to 15 for Jackson. Kelley did little with his opportunities and only picked up 29 yards on the evening. He also caught one pass for nine yards. Kelley has now struggled in three straight games and Justin Jackson looked like the better running back on Monday. Kelley should still be expected to have a role in the offense, but Jackson should have more value for now. Kelley is worth rostering in all formats, but splitting work with Jackson lowers his overall ceiling. The Chargers are on a bye-week next week and Kelley will look to bounce back when the Chargers face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.
