Juan Lagares Likely Out For The Year
7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Juan Lagares was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Friday due to a toe injury. Originally called a hyperextension of the big toe on his left foot, further MRI testing revealed a complete tear of the big toe plantar plate, which is a thick supporting ligament of the toe. Lagares is tentatively set to undergo surgery on the toe next week, and though he was only placed on the 10-day disabled list for now, he is likely to miss the remainder of the season. It's an unfortunate situation for Lagares, who was enjoying his best season to date at the plate, slashing .339/.375/.390 across 64 plate appearances in a backup role. In his absence, Brandon Nimmo will likely see more starts and could take on more fantasy value.
