JuJu Smith-Schuster Heads Toward Free Agency
4 years agoWide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is officially set to become a free agent after the Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to use their franchise tag on the wideout Tuesday. Smith-Schuster is coming off having hauled in a career-high nine touchdowns during 2020, hauling in 97 receptions all while sharing targets in a crowded Pittsburgh WR corps. Should Smith-Schuster sign elsewhere, Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson would see a significant increase in season-long appeal for '21, particularly with the return of Ben Roethlisberger under center. With Chris Godwin and Allen Robinson having been franchise tagged, WR-hungry squads figure to have their attention funneled in the direction of Smith-Schuster, who has proven to be both an adept blocker and durable talent out wide during his first four professional seasons.
