Justin Dunn Expected To Miss A Couple Months
3 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Justin Dunn (shoulder) is expected to miss a couple of months with a shoulder injury. Dunn was part of the package acquired from the Seattle Mariners in the trade that sent third baseman Eugenio Suarez and outfielder Jesse Winker to Seattle. The right-hander battled shoulder and control issues last year for the M's, although he did have a decent 3.75 ERA (4.74 FIP) and 49 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings over 11 starts. The 26-year-old was expected to compete for a rotation spot to open the year, but that obviously won't happen now. Top prospect Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo and Brandon Williamson could be candidates to begin the year in the rotation with both Dunn and Luis Castillo injured.
