Justin Fields' Development A Priority For Bears
3 years agoChicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy vow to create an offense that plays to quarterback Justin Fields' strengths. First of all, the Bears need to upgrade their offensive line to help better protect Fields, who took nine sacks in his first NFL start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. Chicago would also like to improve their weapons at wide receiver. Getsy has already stated that play-action passes will be a cornerstone of the offense, and we could also see more RPOs -- run-pass options. Fields, 22, played in 12 games in his rookie season (10 starts) and threw for 1,870 yards (58.9 completion percentage), seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while being sacked 36 times. He added 72 carries for 420 yards and two more TDs. Fields has exciting dual-threat abilities under center, but he'll need better weapons to throw to in order to take the next step in his sophomore season.
