Justin Fields Struggles, Then Shines In Preseason Debut
3 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed 14-of-20 passes for 142 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in his preseason debut against the Dolphins. It did not start out pretty for Fields' professional debut as the rookie missed on his first few pass attempts, fumbled twice and the offense suffered several penalties. But Fields got cooking just before the half, leading the team down the field before a 53-yard field goal by Cairo Santos got the Bears on the board offensively. The rookie phenom came out in the second half slinging, using his legs and arm to make some crafty plays. He tucked the ball and ran one in for a touchdown and then found tight end Jesse James wide open for an easy touchdown pass. Some ups and downs are to be expected but Fields showcased his elite traits against the Dolphins.
