Justin Smoak Collects Three Hits In Win
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak had a massive breakout season in 2017; whether or not he could carry that over to 2018 was a much debated topic over the winter. So far, so good for Smoak. Against starting pitcher CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees, Smoak finished 3-for-4 two RBI and a walk. Smoak’s damage came when he singled home third baseman Josh Donaldson in the first inning, before doubling home outfielder Steve Pearce in the second. Saturday’s effort was a nice one for Smoak, who didn’t strikeout after being punched out twice in each of Toronto’s first two games. He’ll look to keep it going against opposing pitcher Sonny Gray in the series finale on Sunday.
