2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs are expected to place pitcher Justin Steele on the paternity list. He did not travel with the team to Los Angeles while he awaited the birth of his child. The 26-year-old owns a 4.13 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts across 76 1/3 innings in 2022. He will miss the next few days and return to the big leagues sometime next week. Drew Smyly is expected to be activated from the injured list either Saturday or Sunday to make a start against the Dodgers to replace Steele. The southpaw had been solid before landing on the injured list with a strained right oblique. Smyly posted a 3.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings in 2022.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
