3 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton (back) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake City on Monday night, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Upton has been out since June 25 with a lower back strain, and recently it had been reported that he was doing well in workouts, but there was no timetable for his return. With Upton starting a rehab assignment now, that paints a picture that he could be back in Anaheim before the end of the month. He's been having his best performance since 2018 this year, as he's slashing .247/.336/.480 with 14 homers, three steals, 32 RBI and 40 runs scored over 63 games. Upton is currently rostered in 34 percent of leagues, and for managers looking for a potential impact bat off the waiver wire, Upton is a guy to consider in deeper formats as an IL stash until he's activated.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
