Justin Verlander Exits Early Against Mets On Sunday
5 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander (triceps) exited prematurely during Sunday's spring training matchup against the Mets. The 2019 AL Cy Young winner was scheduled to pitch four innings. However, after he began to experience discomfort, he was yanked after only two innings of work. The 37-year-old faced nine batters on the day, giving up three hits while striking out one batter. Verlander had also been dealing with groin tightness for the majority of spring training, so this latest ailment is not welcome news, despite skipper Dusty Baker labeling his removal as "precautionary." Hopefully, fantasy managers will know more about his status moving ahead over the next day or so.
