Justin Verlander Pitches Gem in Astros' Loss to Rangers
7 years agoAs most of the world watched Rangers starter Bartolo Colon take a perfect game into the ninth inning on Sunday, Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander was throwing an excellent game of his own. Verlander pitched eight innings, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out 11 in a no-decision. He now sits 2-0 on the season with a 1.35 ERA and a 34/5 K/BB ratio. His ERA puts him fifth among pitchers who have thrown at least 20 innings, while his strikeouts place him third in baseball. Verlander has been magnificent all season and is a must-start in any circumstance.
