Justin Verlander Sharp In A Losing Effort
7 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander struck out eight over six innings while allowing one earned run, but took the loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Despite allowing only seven baserunners, an unearned run off of an obstruction call against Alex Bregman cost Verlander the decision. The big righty still sports a 1.17 ERA and 0.71 WHIP on the season and has looked like an early Cy Young candidate. He looks to extend his strong season at home against the Rangers on May 12.
