5 years agoSeattle Mariners pitcher Justus Sheffield threw four innings Friday against the Blue Jays, picking up a no-decision in his first ever major league start. The 23-year-old southpaw gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking three in the inefficient 86-pitch effort. It was his second appearance of the season with the M's after getting roughed up in Triple-A this season to a 6.87 ERA through 12 starts. Sheffield fared much better through 78.0 innings at Double-A prior to his promotion (2.19 ERA/27.9% K%), but still has some seasoning to do before becoming a fantasy asset at the big league level. He's one of the top pitching prospects in baseball and will likely remain in the M's rotation over the final five weeks, but isn't a safe arm to trust as the season draws near a close.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
