3 years agoSeattle Mariners pitcher Justus Sheffield (forearm) will begin his first rehab assignment Friday with High-A Everett. He's been sidelined since July 7 with a left flexor strain. The 25-year-old continued to make progress and threw a successful bullpen session on Wednesday. Sheffield will most likely need a few rehab outings and is targeting an late-August return. The Mariners right-hander has struggled this season, owning a (5-8) record along with a 6.48 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and a 59:35 K: BB across 73 2/3 innings.
