Kaden Smith Could Make Noise As Slot Option
5 years agoDrafted in the sixth round, San Francisco tight end Kaden Smith could have a path to reps even with star George Kittle holding court at the position. Pro Football Focus cited Smith lined up at the slot 157 times in college last season and averaged 2.06 yards per route (15th-most). With fellow rookie wide receiver Jalen Hurd possessing a similar skillset, the two will likely do battle for goal line opportunities in a crowded receiving corps. Smith’s scouting report suggests solid athleticism, subpar speed and the need to improve as a blocker. While he could develop as a valuable depth piece behind Kittle, Smith likely won’t make any buzz heading into 2019 fantasy drafts.
