Ka'imi Fairbairn Out Friday, Matt Ammendola To Sign

2 years agoKicker Matt Ammendola is set to be joining the Houston Texans, per multiple reports. The team will be without primary kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn, who is dealing with a minor injury, for Friday's preseason finale against San Francisco. Fairbairn has served as the Texans' primary kicker for each of the past five seasons, so a change in ranks appears unlikely. Ammendola made his NFL debut last year and kicked in 11 games for the Jets, but he struggled on deep kicks, making just 2-of-8 from 40 yards and beyond. Fairbairn is likely on the outside looking in of fantasy relevance to begin the season, largely due to concerns around the efficiency of the Texans' offense. The next chance for the veteran to kick comes Sept. 11 against the Colts.--Jesse Borek
