6 years agoLos Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart is starting at third base and batting eighth on Friday. Cowart is starting in place of Luis Valbuena, who is 2-for-16 since July 15. Valbuena normally draws the start against right-handers, but Cowart is getting a chance to face off against Mike Clevinger. Whether this is a sign that Valbuena's job is in jeopardy remains to be seen, but Cowart went 0-for-9 in July and is hitting .071 on the year, so neither are good options outside of very deep leagues.--patton
