Ke'Bryan Hayes Signs Eight-Year Extension
3 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates and third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes agreed to an eight-year, $70 million contract extension that includes a team option for a ninth season on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the situation. Hayes, who suffered a minor ankle injury in spring training, is batting third on Opening Day on Thursday against St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright. The 25-year-old hit .257 with six home runs, 49 runs scored, 38 RBI and nine stolen bases in 396 plate appearances over 96 games while being limited with a hand injury. Hayes plays on one of the worst teams in baseball, but the talent is real and he's an up-and-coming third base asset in fantasy.
