3 years agoThe Atlanta Braves signed free-agent relief pitcher Kenley Jansen to a one-year, $16 million deal on Friday. The three-time All-Star spent all 12 years of his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he will now head to the east coast and is likely to supplant left-hander Will Smith as the Braves new closer in 2022. Back in Los Angeles, Blake Treinen remains in line to see the bulk of the ninth-inning save chances. Jansen finished last year with a solid 2.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 86 strikeouts, 36 walks and 38 saves in 69 innings over 69 relief appearances for the Blue. He has at least 25 saves in every season since 2012, excluding the shortened 2020 campaign. Jansen is no longer in his prime, but he's still one of the better closing options in baseball and will be closing for the defending World Series champions.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
