Kenneth Gainwell Gets The Start Saturday
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell recorded two carries for no yards gained, adding two receptions for eight yards, during Saturday's 48-10 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins. The second-year back started the game for the Eagles, only stepping in for one drive. Philadelphia played no starters in this matchup and even sat some second-teamers, so the offense did not run as smoothly as it had the past few weeks. Gainwell did not do much with the touches he was given, but this performance does not change his status in the offense. Whether Miles Sanders starts the season healthy or not, Gainwell will operate as the pass-catching specialist for the Eagles, whose role in the offense could increase based on performance. As an 11th-round pick, Gainwell is worth taking a flier on.
