3 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles rookie running back Kenneth Gainwell touched the ball 17 times in a Week 13 win over the New York Jets. With Gardner Minshew in at quarterback for an injured Jalen Hurts (ankle), there were more carries to go around for Eagles running backs. Miles Sanders (ankle) ended up with 27 touches before being forced to leave with an injury, and Boston Scott (illness) was active but did not play, making Gainwell the only running back in the game behind Sanders. The rookie ran the ball 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and added five catches for 33 yards on five targets. It was easily the most touches of his career so far, and he showed that he can handle a role in an NFL backfield. The Eagles have a bye week in Week 14, but will return to take on Washington in Week 15.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
