Kenneth Gainwell Works With First-Team Offense
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell was the first-team running back in training camp practice on Friday, with Miles Sanders working with the second team. In addition to using him as a runner, the Eagles had Gainwell split out wide at times. Gainwell, a fifth-round pick last year, finished his rookie season with 68 carries for 291 yards and five touchdowns, adding 33 receptions (50 targets) for 253 yards and another TD. He saw most of his work on passing downs but was very efficient on the ground as well behind Philly's excellent offensive line. The Eagles don't seem to view Sanders, who didn't score at all in 2021, as a true No. 1 back, so it's possible that Gainwell could become the team's primary back. Given how well the Eagles ran the ball last year down the stretch, Gainwell is gaining sleeper status in fantasy.
