Kenny Pickett Visiting With Panthers
3 years agoThe Carolina Panthers are hosting Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett Wednesday to wrap up their three-day stretch of visits with top quarterback prospects. On Monday they met with Sam Howell of North Carolina and Bailey Zappe of Western Kentucky. On Tuesday they met with Malik Willis of Liberty, Matt Corral of Ole Miss and Desmond Ridder of Cincinnati. Carolina holds the sixth pick in the draft and is perhaps the team believed most likely to take a quarterback in the first round. The 23-year-old Pickett wrapped up his senior season with 4,319 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had the highest passer rating of all five potential first-round quarterbacks at 165.3. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule has operated with a wide range of quarterback styles during his time in Carolina, but new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo may have a preference for a more polished option like Pickett to build the offense around.
