Kenny Pickett Will Serve As Backup In Preseason Finale
2 years agoPittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett will be signal-caller No. 2 for the team's final preseason contest Sunday vs. the Lions. The door has not been shut on the rookie earning the starting nod for Week 1 of the regular season, but Mitch Trubisky will draw his third consecutive start as Pittsburgh puts a wrap on its preseason. With Trubisky at QB1 and Pickett at QB2, Mason Rudolph will still get reps, but it appears that he sits as a long shot to be under center Sept. 11 against Cincinnati. Taken with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Pickett's time as the Steelers starter appears to be coming, although how soon is unclear. With ample offensive weapons around him, fantasy managers in keeper or two-QB leagues will want to begin preparations for Pickett becoming the starter at some point.
