4 years agoMinnesota Twins starter Kenta Maeda is reportedly looking to add a pitch to his arsenal ahead of the 2021 season. Maeda was dominant last season, posting career-highs in ERA, strikeout rate, and left-on base percentage en route to finishing second in the CY Young Award race. The Japanese right-hander is looking to permanently implement one of a cutter, two-seam fastball, or curveball to his three-pitch mix after experimenting with the cutter and curve last season. Maeda threw his heater far less often, relying on the slider and change more to keep hitters off-balance, posting whiff rates above 30 percent on both pitches. The veteran hurler likely won't repeat his incredible 2020 season but makes for a dependable SP2 at his ADP of 53, especially with a new potential pitch in his bag of tricks.--Tim Capurso
