3 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda (forearm) underwent Tommy John surgery, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reported on Wednesday. The 33-year-old right-hander exited his last outing on August 21 due to tightness in his right forearm. Maeda has reportedly had an internal brace placed in his right elbow, which is expected to cut down his recovery time to 9-to-12 months instead of the usual 12-to-16 months. Still, the veteran pitcher wouldn't see playing time until late in the 2022 season at the earliest.--Chelena Goldman
