Keone Kela Picks Up a Save
7 years agoTexas Rangers closer Keone Kela gave up a hit but struck out two and held on to secure his seventh save in a 7-6 win over the Detroit Tigers. The save was Kela's first in more than a week and comes after he gave up five runs in his last two innings pitched. No closer in baseball needed a good outing more than the 25-year-old, and it appears that the Rangers are giving him at least a little more leash before exploring other options. It helps that no other reliever in the bullpen has been particularly good, but Kela still holds one of the most tenuous roles in baseball. If you own him and can get full value, it might be worth considering moving on. But if someone is offering him at a discount, that might be interesting as well. Kela is one of the tougher relievers to get a read on, and it doesn't look like that's primed to change anytime soon. Valuing Kela is really dependent upon your league, so be prepared to keep an open mind.
