Kevin Gausman Takes Loss In Return
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (ankle) returned to mound on Thursday and allowed two runs over six innings in a 3-1 loss to the Royals. Facing a lackluster Kansas City lineup, the right-hander allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out six in the 88-pitch performance as his record dropped to 6-7 on the season. Gausman gave up both runs in the fifth on an RBI single to Edward Olivares and a solo homer to Bobby Witt Jr. as he worked around base runners in all but one frame. It was still a positive to see him out there for six innings after taking a liner off his ankle nearly two weeks ago as he takes a sharp 2.87 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into the All-Star Break.
