5 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier will start and hit eighth Wednesday against the A's in the Wild Card play-in game. It has been a tough month of September for Kiermaier, who is slashing only .144/.222/.256 over his last 90 at-bats. In fact, it has been a dismal second half of the season for the athletic outfielder. In 49 games since the All-Star break, Kiermaier is hitting .188 over his last 165 at-bats with 40 strikeouts while only coaxing eight walks. Kiermaier has fared well with runners in scoring position (.302) but mostly will be in the lineup for his defense in this elimination battle.--Joey C - RotoBaller
