6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kevin Newman (finger) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 9, the team announced on Thursday. In his place, Pittsburgh has recalled infielder Kevin Kramer from Triple-A and he will join the team immediately in Chicago. Kramer is the Pirates sixth-ranked prospect, according to MLBPipeline. In six games at Triple-A Indianapolis, he has six hits, including four doubles, and two runs batted in. He'll mostly see pinch-hit appearances and spot starts in the infield, with the exception of first base. He can't be considered a fantasy option outside of dynasty formats, as his stay in the majors is dependent on other player's availability.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
