7 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar has gotten off to a blistering start that could see him set career highs across the board when the book is written on 2018, but he may be cooling off just a tad. In a 12-2 loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday, Pillar finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout. It marks the second consecutive game Pillar has finished 0-for-4 with at least one strikeout, and he’s now only picked up one hit in his last three games. It’s not a massive slump for Pillar, but it’s notable because so far this season he’s picked things back up immediately after a subpar game. With a BABIP that still sits at a high .341, however, further regression for Pillar is likely on the way. For reference, in his career-best season of 2015, Pillar’s BABIP was a much lower .306.--John Smith
