7 years agoNew York Mets catcher Devin Mesoraco may be playing well at the moment, but don’t forget about the injured catcher he’s playing in place of -- Kevin Plawecki (hand). Plawecki has been out with a broken bone in his right hand but will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. If all goes well, it’s reasonable to assume Plawecki will be back in the Major Leagues by the end of the month. How the playing time will shake out, though, is anybody's guess. There will certainly be a platoon of some kind with Mesoraco, but even when healthy, Plawecki wasn’t playing nearly as well as Mesoraco is now.--John Smith
