7 years agoTo update an earlier item, New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki is now only expected to miss two to three weeks after fracturing his left hand. Plawecki was hit by a 100 mph fastball from Miami Marlins reliever Tayron Guerrero on Wednesday and X-rays were negative after the game. Plawecki felt good, but further testing revealed the fracture. Thankfully, he won’t be out nearly as long as it initially sounded when the fracture was diagnosed. In the interim, the Mets are likely to roll with the recently recalled Tomas Nido and the likely to be recalled Jose Lobaton. It’s unlikely they look for help outside the organization with such a short timetable for Plawecki.--John Smith
