4 years agoTexas Rangers left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard is taking injured All-Star Corey Kluber’s spot in the starting rotation for Sunday’s contest against the Giants. Allard hasn’t pitched during the 2020 regular season yet, which will limit him to about 60-70 pitches, per manager Chris Woodward. “I’m looking at three, four innings, tops,” Woodward said, “I don’t see him going more than 80 pitches.” With that cap in mind, it’s tough to see how Allard can be rostered in DFS lineups, even with his favorable matchup against a Giants offense that doesn’t boast a large level of potency. If Allard is to become a long-term commodity, he’ll need to get his walks (career 3.9 BB/9) under control; if that happens, he could have some two-start or AL-only appeal.--Jesse Borek
