Kris Bryant Out Of Lineup Friday
4 years agoChicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is not among the starting nine for the second consecutive game as he battles a left wrist/ring finger ailment. David Bote will hold down the hot corner and bat seventh in his place, with Ian Happ slotting into the leadoff spot. Manager David Ross stated that Bryant would be available to pinch-hit so long as he had no setbacks pre-game, which is a solid indicator that he could return to the lineup fairly soon. Bryant has gotten off to a rocky start in 2020, slashing .196/.315/.391 through his first 12 games, especially scuffling with breaking pitches, which he has produced a 51.7 Whiff% on. His next chance to return to the starting lineup comes Saturday against Milwaukee right-hander Adrian Houser.
