4 years agoChicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (illness) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Pirates. Bryant is describing the illness as a stomach ailment and has tested negative for COVID-19 the past several days. Given the recent outbreak on the Marlins, it makes sense to take the cautious approach with the All-Star third baseman. Manager David Ross said it's up to the MLB when Bryant will be able to return. The 28-year-old is off to a slow start, with just three hits in 29 plate appearances. He'll be replaced in Sunday's lineup by David Bote, who owns a hot .357 batting average and two home runs in the young season so far.--Tim Capurso
