5 years agoThe Texas Rangers recalled relief pitcher Kyle Bird from Triple-A Nashville on Monday, and they designated veteran reliever Jeanmar Gomez for assignment. Gomez managed a 1-0 record with a dismal 8.22 ERA and 1.89 WHIP with six walks and 10 strikeouts over 15 1/3 innings across 16 appearances. Bird takes his place in the bullpen, and will give manager Chris Woodward a second left-handed option. He managed a 2.70 ERA with a save across 13 1/3 innings over 11 relief appearances for Nashville this season, and he appeared in five games for the Rangers in 2018.--Daniel Dobish
