2 years agoWashington Nationals relief pitcher Kyle Finnegan picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. Finnegan entered the game to pitch the ninth inning with a one-run lead. He got the first out on a pop-out, allowed a double, but got the next two hitters out on fly-outs to end the game. The 30-year-old hasn't pitched particularly well this season with a 4.03 ERA over 29 innings pitched. More importantly, Tanner Rainey has been the clear closing option for the Nationals this season, but he had pitched in two of the team's last three games, so he was likely just receiving a rest day.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
