Kyle Freeland Has A Left Shoulder Strain
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland has a shoulder strain in his throwing arm, according to the team. He left after throwing a pitch in the third inning of his Cactus League start on Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. The initial injury did not look good, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, who said Freeland "bent over in obvious pain. He left the field holding his left arm against his stomach." A shoulder injury this close to the regular season is never a good sign. The left-handed Freeland was slated to open the year as the team's number two starter but a stint on the injured list is more likely at this point. The team should provide more clarity on his status in the coming days but this a blow for the Rockies, who have a thin starting rotation. Freeland's injury should open up a rotation spot for either Chi Chi Gonzalez or Dereck Rodriguez. Neither hurler should be considered in fantasy, though.
