Kyle Freeland Looks Good In Spring Debut
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland had a solid outing on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds in Cactus League play. The southpaw allowed no runs on two hits with a walk and two punch-outs over three innings of work. The 27-year-old lefty has come crashing back down to earth since his breakout 2018 campaign when he posted a 2.85 ERA over 202 1/3 innings. He compiled a 2-3 record, 4.33 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 46:23 K/BB ratio over 70 2/3 innings last season in Colorado. His inability to miss bats (career 17.5% K rate) coupled with his walk issues make him hard to trust. He should open the year as the Rockies No. 2 starter behind German Marquez but he's more of a streaming option than a reliable starter in fantasy leagues.
