Kyle Gibson Bitten By The Long Ball
4 years agoIn a 10-3 loss to the Oakland A's, Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kyle Gibson gave up a couple of two-run home runs in the fourth and fifth innings to unravel his night. In 6 1/3 innings, Gibson allowed seven earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six Oakland batters. Both home runs were set up by the right-handed pitcher hitting the preceding batter and then Matt Olson in the fourth, and Marcus Semien in the fifth launched balls over the outfield wall in the following at-bats. Gibson has a 5.73 ERA after six starts with his new club but is not in danger of leaving the rotation considering his ERA is second-lowest on the team. Still, he is not in consideration for any rosters in a standard 10 or 12 team fantasy baseball league unless a manager is desperate for some innings.
