Kyle Gibson Roughed Up By Braves In Final Start Of 2021
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Gibson allowed four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings pitched to take the loss in his final start of the 2021 campaign. Gibson did pick up seven strikeouts, a rare feat for Gibson who normally relies on ground balls and weak contact as evidenced by his 20% strikeout rate, which is well below league average. The veteran righty finished the season with a 10-9 record, a 3.71 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 155 strikeouts across 182 innings split between the Rangers and Phillies. He was a solid back-of-the-rotation starter for Philly and fantasy managers alike. With a solid 3.86 FIP and 3.88 expected ERA, there's no reason to project too much regression for Gibson heading into his age-34 season in 2022.
