Kyle Gibson Struggles With Control In No-Decision Versus Brewers
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Gibson allowed three runs across just 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Wednesday. Gibson did well to not allow more damage as he allowed seven hits and four walks as he struggled with his control all evening. Gibson has now been hit hard in back-to-back outings and his walk rate is up to an uncharacteristic 8.9 percent. Given his sub-20 percent strikeout rate, Gibson walks a fine line in fantasy as he provides little value if he's not preventing runs as he has no strikeout floor to fall back on. He's a fine deep-league play versus the Cubs next time out, but Gibson is far from a must-start fantasy hurler despite a solid matchup on paper.
