Kyle Hendricks Earns Fourth Win Thursday
2 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks was superb in Thursday's 15-7 win over the Reds by striking out seven batters over six frames of work. The win improved his record to 4-6 on the campaign as he gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with the runs coming off an infield RBI single in the fourth and a Joey Votto solo homer in the sixth. The 32-year-old veteran has shown glimpses of his former dominant self, but has also struggled with bouts of ineffectiveness and blow-up outings. Hendricks' lack of consistency has netted him a 4.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 62 K through 81 1/3 IP on the year as he looks ahead to a road matchup versus the Brewers next week.
