Kyle Hendricks Secures Fourth Victory
4 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks picked up his fourth victory of the season versus the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday evening. Hendricks exited in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners on first and third with two outs after first baseman Anthony Rizzo made an error to record what would have been the final out of the inning. Relief pitcher Tommy Nance would give up a single to Tommy Edman that drove in a run charged to Hendricks and then he got Paul Goldschmidt out to end the inning. Hendricks would finish with a final line of 6 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, three runs (one earned), one walk and struck out four on the evening. Hendricks has been off to a rocky start this season, but he has been having a nice month of May. For the month, Hendricks owns a 2.39 ERA and has gone 6 2/3 innings with one earned run in three of his four starts. Hendricks will look to keep it going in a favorable matchup versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
